Heralding a new era in Audi's mid-size segment, the S5 Avant is now open for customer and demonstrator orders. This new model launch is part of Audi’s A5 family rebranding, coming three decades after the introduction of the Audi A4. The revamped Audi A5 lineup introduces a refined design language, distinct premium proportions, and cutting-edge technology, making it a standout addition to New Zealand’s luxury automotive market.
Advanced Design & Dynamic Exterior
The 2025 S5 Avant showcases a bold exterior with 20-inch Audi sport wheels, striking Matrix LED headlights, and OLED rear taillights. It offers configurable daytime running light signatures and dynamic indicators. Accents in matt silver and Audi’s iconic rings in polar white underscore its elegance.
Luxurious Interior & Unmatched Comfort
Inside, the S5 Avant boasts high-grade materials and comfort-enhancing features tailored for an optimal driving experience. Key interior elements include Nappa leather sports seats with rhombus contrast stitching, a multifunction sports steering wheel with paddle shifters, and a front door and centre console inlays in matt carbon twill. The seats, equipped with heating, ventilation, and massage functions, are complemented by rear seat heating, three-zone A/C, and keyless entry, including a digital key. For convenience, a hands-free boot opening feature is also standard.
Cutting-edge technology & Immersive Infotainment
Audi’s innovative tech offerings are on full display in the S5 Avant. The model includes a panoramic MMI display, featuring an 11.9-inch virtual cockpit, a 14.5-inch touch display, and a 10.9-inch passenger MMI screen. Wireless charging and multiple USB-C ports support seamless device connectivity. The B&O Premium Sound System with headrest speakers enhances the driving experience with immersive 3D sound, while headrest speakers add personalised sound zones for phone calls and navigation.
Driver Assistance for Enhanced Safety
The S5 Avant is fitted with a suite of driver-assist systems, including adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning with emergency assist, and side assist for optimal safety and control on the road.
Efficient Performance with MHEV Technology
Under the hood, the S5 Avant combines performance and sustainability with Audi’s MHEV Plus system. This setup reduces CO₂ emissions and includes a 48V lithium iron phosphate battery, providing partially electric driving modes. The system delivers an electric boost up to 18kW, ensuring quick acceleration and improved agility, while an acoustic sound system aids pedestrian safety at low electric speeds.
Feature Highlights: Innovative Panoramic Roof and B&O Sound
Audi introduces its first panoramic glass sunroof with switchable transparency technology in the S5 Avant, allowing drivers to adjust the level of light in the cabin with ease. The B&O Premium Sound System is augmented by headrest speakers, creating a 3D sound experience that personalizes audio zones, enhancing audio quality and privacy for drivers and passengers.
Future Launches
Following the S5 Avant, a 220kW PHEV model is scheduled to arrive in late 2025, while the high-performance RS variant in both Avant and Sedan body styles is expected in 2026. Additional details on these models will be released closer to their respective launch dates.
