Defender Mid-Cycle Refresh Launch at The Red Barn
Ebbett Prestige Tauranga welcomes clients to experience the next chapter of Defender
At The Red Barn, surrounded by rolling countryside and the kind of terrain Defender was born for, Land Rover enthusiasts and Ebbett Prestige clients recently gathered to celebrate the launch of the latest evolution of the iconic Land Rover Defender.
The event marked the arrival of the Defender Mid-Cycle Refresh, showcasing subtle design enhancements, advanced technology updates and, most notably, the unveiling of the new flagship performance model, the Land Rover Defender OCTA.
Hosted by Ebbett Prestige Tauranga, the day combined premium hospitality, off-road heritage and an immersive Defender experience that brought the brand’s legendary capability to life.
Since its modern reintroduction, the Defender has redefined what a luxury off-road vehicle can be, combining rugged capability with sophisticated design and cutting-edge technology.
The mid-cycle refresh introduces a series of enhancements that refine the Defender’s appeal even further. Subtle updates to lighting signatures, infotainment, and interior finishes elevate the everyday driving experience while retaining the vehicle’s unmistakable presence and purpose-built character.
From rural farms to city streets, the Defender remains one of the most versatile vehicles on the road, equally at home towing, touring, or exploring beyond the beaten track.
The highlight of the day was the introduction of the new Defender OCTA, a bold new flagship that represents the most extreme expression of the Defender to date.
Powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo mild-hybrid V8, the OCTA delivers approximately 467kW of power and up to 750Nm of torque, enabling breathtaking performance while maintaining exceptional off-road capability. It can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in around four seconds, placing it firmly in performance SUV territory.
But the OCTA is about far more than speed.
Engineered to master any terrain, it introduces 6D Dynamics suspension, a hydraulically interconnected system designed to minimise pitch and body roll on road while maximising wheel articulation off-road. The result is extraordinary control and composure whether carving through winding roads or tackling challenging terrain.
With a wider stance, increased ride height and reinforced chassis components, the OCTA is built to handle the most demanding environments with confidence and precision.
Inspired by the strength and geometry of a diamond, the OCTA name reflects its unique blend of toughness, luxury and rarity - a fitting symbol for the new pinnacle of the Defender range.
With the arrival of the refreshed Defender and the groundbreaking OCTA, the Defender story continues to evolve.
Combining luxury, performance and unrivalled all-terrain capability, the latest generation reinforces why Defender remains one of the most iconic vehicles in the world.
At Ebbett Prestige Tauranga, we’re proud to share this journey with our clients and community and we look forward to helping more drivers experience everything Defender has to offer.
