Kia EV5 claims prestigious local EV Car of the Year title
The team at the country’s leading automotive monthly magazine, NZ Autocar, have recognised the Kia EV5 as ‘EV of the Year’ as part of their 2024 Car of the Year awards.
The Kia EV5 was applauded for its ‘Opposites United’ design language, sharing a strong family resemblance with the internationally acclaimed EV9, as well as overall form and function.
Kyle Cassidy, editor of NZ Autocar Magazine, said “We liked the new EV5’s inspired styling, while the electric SUV doesn’t skimp on safety and driver-assistance features.
“The EV5 is a carefully considered package that prioritises practicality and technology without going overboard, while few can match its considerable range.”
Managing Director of Kia New Zealand, Todd McDonald, was thrilled to be presented with the award.
“Kia’s range of electric vehicles is finding considerable favour amongst fans of zero-emissions motoring.
“This prestigious New Zealand title is another feather in the cap for our multi-award winning range of electric vehicles.
“As identified by the Autocar judges, the impressive range of the EV5 of up to 555km WLTP in two-wheel drive models is one of the key features which stands it apart from the competition.
“It also offers impressive levels of luxurious comfort and convenience, outstanding technology and safety features, generous legroom all contained in an inspired design. It’s the perfect family oriented midsize fully electric vehicle, made even more appealing with an attainable price of $67,990.
“This award reinforces that the Kia EV5 is the best EV currently available and is complementary to great success we’re enjoying in the EV space with our impressive portfolio of fully electric vehicles, including the EV6, EV9, EV5 and soon-to-be-released models such as EV3 and EV4.”
