Road test: Cupra Terramar comparo, slick stylish SUV a game of two halves
They might have had a local presence for several years now, but I still often find myself having to explain what ‘Cupra’ is to the car-curious. My suspicion is that this is, in part, thanks to the limited Cupra line-up. You have the Formentor, a car I’ve grown a huge appreciation for. And you have the remnants of Cupra’s more civilised sister-brand Seat, via the Leon range.
But, this party of two will soon be a troublesome quadlet, thanks to the upcoming Tavascan and the rather strapping SUV you see here — the Terramar. And it’s the Terramar that has arguably the most weight on its shoulders of the bunch. Unlike its more compact Formentor sibling, the Terramar is a proper mid-size SUV in both dimensions and shape. In theory, it has the broadest audience and, therefore, it could soon be Cupra’s new best-seller.
